Wellbeing & Disability Inclusion Profiles

Wellbeing

Hampton East School understands the inextricable link between student learning and student wellbeing.  We have a dedicated Wellbeing team which includes members from our Principal Class, Allied Health Specialists and Classroom Teachers, who actively promote student mental health and wellbeing and provide targeted and individualised support to our students.

Our Curriculum allows for our students to be explicitly taught strategies that encourage mentally healthy behaviours. This is primarily done within our Personal and Social Skills lessons.

Disability Inclusion Profiles

All students in specialist settings are required to undertake a Disability Inclusion Profile (DIP) Meeting.

A DIP helps us to identify the strengths, needs, and educational adjustments we make for our students. It also determines the amount of funding each student receives (Tier 3 Student Funding).

This Profile Meeting is led by a trained facilitator. Parent/carers and school staff including your child’s classroom teacher, allied health team members and the Assistant Principal (Wellbeing) attend the meeting. Participants contribute information about the student to understand their strengths, aspirations and functional needs and the adjustments required to enable them to participate in their education on the same basis as a student without additional needs.

DIP meetings are held for all new students entering Hampton East School. Subsequent meetings are held at times of transition, such as entering the Middle School and Senior School, to ensure that the appropriate levels of adjustment are being implemented to support our students’ changing needs.
